ImageBERLIN: Lufthansa Miles and More - I had to use some accumulated miles - use them or lose them. On this video I visit a lounge at Glasgow Airport, the Lufthansa Business class lounge at Munich, enjoy Lufthansa service (for the first time), and experience transport chaos at Berlin Tegel airport.

ImageBERLIN: This was the first full day in Berlin, my favourite European capital city. The morning was spend visiting the German Museum of Technology, a walk past Checkpoint Charlie and a visit to an antiques market. I also enjoyed my first or many curry bratwursts on this trip.

ImageBERLIN: HERTHA BERLIN - Seeing this Bundesliga match between Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen at the Olympic Stadium had been planned for six months, and at last the day has come. I had to battle transport issues, due to track maintenance. Very busy trains, and amazing atmosphere, and what a finish to a fantastic match. I spend the night at the Hotel Indigo.

ImageBERLIN: I leave Berlin early morning for a quick day-trip to Decin, Czech Republic. I travel 1st class on a Hungarian passenger train and enjoy stunning scenery along the River Elbe. I explore the small, white marker stones which mark the Czech-German border, and subject myself to steep climb up to a largely forgotten water mill site.

ImageBERLIN: After a scenic day in the historic city of Decin, Czech Republic, I catch a local train along the scenic River Elbe Valley back to Berlin, via Dresden. Back at Alexanderplatz I stay at the Park Inn by Radisson with stunning views of Berlin. I had requested a vew of the city, but couldn't believe my luck.

ImageBERLIN: The sights of beautiful Berlin, transport, Schönefeld Airport and Easyjet. After a fabulous breakfast at the stunning Park Inn Alexanderplatz, I visit some of Berlin's sights before reluctantly (very reluctantly) leave the city and head for Schönefeld Airport and a flight home with Easyjet.

ImagePARIS-COLOGNE-BERLIN: I've always had a soft spot for Thalys, but I don't know why. I was a happy man travelling with the high speed Thalys train from Paris to Cologne. I was happier when I managed to get a curry bratwurst at Cologne station between trains. The next journey was on a high speed German ICE train to Berlin.

ImageBERLIN-WARSAW: I catch a morning train to Warsaw. The PKP coach compartment could accommodate six people. I found myself in a carriage almost entirely filled by school children around 12-14 years of age. Doors opened and closed, curtains opened and closed, sly smoking, food being thrown about, other boys entering the full compartment and standing on my feet.

ImageHAMBURG: Hamburg has beautiful architecture, moving memorials, an efficient ferry network and the amazing Minatur Wonderland. Here is the largest model railway in the world, and one of the most successful tourist attractions in Germany. On the 1.300 m² large layout, there are more than a thousand trains, aircraft, cars and ships move about. The amount of detail and sheer size was hard to comprehend.
